Ingredients
- 30 slices white bread, lightly toasted
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 tbsp water (optional)
- 2 tsp rubbed sage
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- 01Let toasted bread sit out on baking sheets for 24 hrs to harden.
- 02Prep all ingredients once bread is ready.
- 03Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- 04Crush bread into crumbs using a rolling pin. Place in a large bowl.
- 05Sauté onion and celery in melted butter for 5--7 mins. Drain.
- 06Mix bread crumbs with broth and eggs until moist (not mushy). Add water if needed. Stir in cooked veggies, sage, garlic powder, salt & pepper.
- 07Press the mixture into your baking dish.
- 08Bake ~1 hour, until top is golden and crisp.
- 09Serve hot. Enjoy!
